Hand-dyed Yarn and Cookies!

Wednesday brought in some interesting projects-

Look at some of our customer's results of using Kool Aid to dye their own yarn!

Some other projects included Liz, still working on her dress

And Leslie is almost finished with her lovely scarf!

Click 'Read More' for more photos of hand-dyed yarn, and a recipe for Chocolate Chip-Oatmeal Cookies!

This hand-dyed skein is silk/bamboo

And this skein is 100% cotton

A favorite snack on Wednesday night is Chocolate Chip-Oatmeal cookies. They're full of delicious chocolate, and they have oatmeal, so its really a health food. Really.

Chocolate Chip-Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup (or more!) chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shortening, and both sugars. Beat together until well combined. In medium bowl, lightly beat eggs and vanilla. Add egg mixture to shortening/sugar mixture and beat thouroughly to combine. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda, stirring to combine. Add flour mixture to egg/shortening/sugar mix and stir to combine. Dump in oats and chocolate chips and stir to combine. Form dough into rounds and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, remove from oven and let cool on wire rack.

Note: This recipe is adapted from The Pioneer Woman Cooks by Ree Drummond. It calls for only 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, but I usually add a heaping half cup, then about another 1/4 of a cup, just to be sure there's enough chocolate in there.
